Silent Roof Material (SRM) is a specialised exterior system designed to eliminate rain impact noise on metal and hard-surface sound stage and studio roofs.
How It Works
- Mechanism: It uses a flexible, 3D polyamide monofilament open-matrix/open-grid matting (approx. 800 g/m²).
- Impact Interception: Instead of letting raindrops strike hard metal or composite sheets directly to create resonant noise, the top surface intercepts and shatters the kinetic energy of falling droplets.
- Silent Drainage: Rainwater trickles quietly through the open 3D structure and flows naturally down into the standard roof drainage system.
- Key Features for Sound Stages
- Non-Permanent Installation: Secured mechanically via retaining wires or specialised fixings without heavy adhesives or structural alterations. It can be fitted or removed easily without damaging the roof surface.
- Versatility: Accommodates flat, curved, barrel, or transparent roof lights without blocking natural light or trapping wind resistance.
- Durability: Built from UV-stabilized, 100% recyclable single-component polyamide that withstands extreme weather conditions (such as high heat and severe windstorms).
- Industry Adoption: Used across major film, television, and production studios—including operations by Netflix, Warner Bros, Apple TV, and NBCUniversal—supplied and installed via Silent Roof Ltd or approved specialists.
